Why is there a sudden drop in the P&L on my shares in Portfolio?

During a bonus share issue for a stock you hold in Portfolio, there could be a sudden drop observed in P&L.

When bonus shares are issued by a company, the investment value of the stock remains unchanged. Additional shares will be credited to the customer’s account by a certain date. Until then, the portfolio will show a temporary drop in P&L. Once bonus shares are credited, the P&L will adjust to its correct value.
