Why am I not able to add shares in my Portfolio?
You may not be able to add shares in Portfolio due to the following reasons:
I. Unallocated shares in Demat
If you have shares in Demat from an offline transfer or have received shares through corporate actions, verify if the shares are allocated in Demat. If the shares are unallocated, first you need to manually allocate these shares by following the steps mentioned below:
A. Through Old Website:
1. Click on Stocks
2. Go to Demat Holdings
3. Click on Allocate
4. Select the stock. Click on the Allocate button
5. Enter the quantity to allocate under Free Qty. column.
6. Click on Submit.
B. Through New Website:
1. Click on Demat Holdings under Stocks.
2. Click on Allocate.
3. Select the checkbox for stocks you want to allocate and enter the quantity.
4. Click on Submit.
II. Quantity entered is greater than the Demat qty.
As Demat Holdings provides an accurate picture of your total holdings in any stock, the quantity of a stock in your Portfolio should either be equal to or lesser than the quantity of your Demat Holdings.
If you attempt to enter a quantity of a stock in your Portfolio that exceeds the total Allocated quantity of that stock present in Demat, then you will be unable to add do such an entry manually.
