If I unpledge a security, how long does it take to get unpledged so I can sell the shares?

You can spot sell your stock without unpledging by following the path below:

Through Website:

Through App:

Menu > Stocks > Shares as Margin > Pledged Securities > Spot sell

However, if you want to unpledge the stock:

1. You can initiate an unpledge request by following the path below

Stocks > Shares as Margin > Funds > Pledged Securities > Unpledge

2. Once the unpledge request has been processed successfully, the unpledged quantity will reflect as free balance in your demat account on real time basis during market hours. If request is placed after market hours, the withdrawn quantity will reflect as free balance in your demat account, by next trading day.

Note: The pledged and unpledged requested will not be taken during the 3:30PM to 5:00PM & 9:00PM to 12:00AM

3. The Status Book sub-link under Shares as Margin allows you to view the final status of the unpledge request.

4. However, if you have any outstanding settlement dues or shortfalls, ICICI Direct may not allow unpledging of shares, and may invoke the pledged shares to recover the dues.
